If you have had unprotected sex or experienced some sort of birth control issue and think you might be pregnant, we are here to help you. Abide Maternity Home offers free and confidential pregnancy testing services.

We understand that thinking about becoming a parent can be scary, especially if you were not planning on it. With that in mind, it is important not to panic. Our pregnancy testing services will deliver you a clear answer about the uncertainty of your pregnancy. To find out if you might be pregnant and in need of pregnancy testing, you should look for the early signs of pregnancy.

Early Signs of Pregnancy

During the early stages of your pregnancy, your body will give you many indications that you are pregnant. Of course, if you do not know which signs to look for, you may not catch them. Some women simply do not experience the early signs, and others don’t notice the changes happening in their body right away. Or, perhaps symptoms are present, but attributed to some other cause. This need not happen to you; you can be vigilant and detect your pregnancy early. Common pregnancy symptoms include:

  • Missed period
  • Cramping
  • Spotting
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Tender/swollen breasts
  • Distaste for certain foods or smells
  • Frequent urination
  • Backaches
  • Headaches

If you notice any of these symptoms, especially missing your period, you might be pregnant. Schedule an appointment for free pregnancy testing in our facility.

Pregnancy Testing

Whether you have missed a period or have already taken a home pregnancy test, you should still take a pregnancy test at Abide’s Family Resource Center. Pregnancy tests are most accurate when taken at least one week after you have missed your period. This will give your body ample time to produce more of the hCG hormone, which is also known as “the pregnancy hormone.” The longer that you wait to take the test, the better your chances are of getting an accurate result.

After a Positive Pregnancy Test

After you have a positive pregnancy test result, there is a chance that you will feel worried or confused. That is okay – in fact, it is completely normal. Remember that you are not alone on this journey. Our friendly and welcoming staff will provide you with valuable information that you will need to make the best decision about your pregnancy.
